Water Softeners

High Quality Water that Protects your Water Heater, Appliances, Your Clothes, and Your Body

Are soap and shampoo not lathering well in the shower? Skin and hair dry and itchy? Spots all over your dishes? Is clean laundry not looking its best? Is the coffee pot full of scaly crud?

If you’re dealing with any or all of these issues around the house, chances are that hard water is to blame.

What Does a Water Softener Do?

Water softeners soften water by removing certain minerals. This means calcium and other minerals, naturally occurring elements in well water and municipal water supplies. While these minerals aren’t necessarily bad for your health, when they build up in your plumbing, they cause various household issues.

Water softeners extend the life of your water heater and appliances by stopping mineral deposit buildup. They save money, using up to 50% less soap and detergents. Water softener systems can keep your hair shiny and soft, moisturize skin, and brighten your clothes, making taking showers more enjoyable. Soft water systems are gentle on plumbing and don’t cause rust damage in sinks, tubs, dishwashers, and washing machines.

Single Tank Water Softener

The single tank water softener is the great solution for city water applications and can also be effective for certain well water situations.

The single-tank water softener is the most common type of water softener. It relies on a salt brine, like that saltwater you used to gargle for a sore throat when you were a kid. This system works by replacing the hard minerals (calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, etc.) with sodium, which is softer. Of course, you won’t taste the sodium, but you’ll “feel” it in terms of better soap lather, softer skin, and cleaner dishes. Water softeners will also help extend the life of your home’s appliances, such as water heaters, dishwashers, and washing machines.

Twin Tank Water Softener

The twin tank water softener has the advantage of regenerating with soft water. This softener will give you soft water 24 hours a day and will last much longer than a single tank softener.

Water softeners need to regenerate from time to time. This typically happens overnight when everyone at home is asleep, and there is no water demand. If freshwater demand persists in your home at all hours of the day and night, you might want to consider a dual tank system. When one tank is offline regenerating, the other tank kicks in. Dual-tank softeners are handy for larger families or folks who work day and night shifts. Also, it is far less wasteful than the single-tank softener because it uses less salt and water when regenerating.
